This episode follows John L’s visit to the Three Choirs Vineyard. Martin Fowkes, the Winemaking Director, kindly gave us some samples for John M to try back in the cellar.
This was a great tasting sparkling wine without the acidity people often associate with sparkling wine including Champagne. This Cuvee seemed incredible value as it deserved to be respected and enjoyed rather than just “necked”.
The next wine was 3 Choirs White Wine made from the Bacchus grape, whilst John M was slightly disappointed in the amount length, but John L really really enjoyed it. It was similar to Sauvignon Blanc, but once again had none of the acidity of Sauvignon Blanc which makes it ideal for those of you that like Sauvignon Blanc but do not like the acidity of this grape.
The final we taste is the 3 Choirs Vineyards Red Wine. This wine is ideal in our opinion for those people that are looking to move on from just drinking white to also wanting to drink red. the tannins are very light and the wine is very fruity. It’s nose (bouquet) is very similar to the Gamay grape which is used to make Beaujolais.
