Barefoot Merlot Wine Review(Episode 367)

In this episode, we taste and review another Barefoot Wine this time a Merlot Wine.

Merlot was maligned in an American film called “Sideways” released in 2004 and subsequently lost market share as a direct result. (On the other hand, it helped boost Californian Sales of Pinot Noir by 170%.)

Merlot has though since recovered as memories of the effect of the film faded with time.

The colour of this particular Merlot is a purple hue and the nose was very nice indeed, with cherries and plums evident.

John M detected some spices but John L did not.

Both however were very impressed and felt Barefoot had produced a wine that smelt very appealing.

Tastewise, full of flavour and full of dark berry fruit and some spice as well!

At £6.75 this wine is very good value indeed. John M also suggested that for those who wished to start their red wine journey this could be an ideal wine.

For food pairing, John M recommended blue stilton with this wine and John L suggested dark fowl meat such as duck.
