We taste and review a wine from Catalan in Spain made from Parellada and Grenache Blanc.
Grenache Blanc is believed to be a mutation of Grenache which is usually used to make red wines.
At £5.75 this wine is very competitively priced.
The wine is very light lemon colour with a hint of green.
On the nose, there is a lot of fruit coming out to meet your nose including lemon, lime, stone fruits, pineapple and other tropical fruits.
It certainly had a beautiful and interesting smell or nose.
Taste wise the stone fruit and pineapple really come through. also the wine is acidic enough to make it feel fresh and mouth-watering, but without it being too acidic.
This wine really punches above its weight for the price! John L would pair this with grilled fish or prawns or even a white meat salad.
John M’s suggestion for pairing with cheese was a Cashel Blue or Shepherds’ Purse Yorkshire Blue.
This is an easy wine to recommend!
