What wine should you buy your Valentine on Valentine’s Day, be it in a restaurant or as a gift?
If you know what wine be it still or sparkly they like then the choice for Valentine’s Day is easy, but what if you don’t?
Champagne is always a good call if you want to make an impression, but in today’s economic climate many people just can’t afford the price tag that goes with champagne and if you are not sure your loved one will enjoy it, the price tag becomes even a more significant barrier.
So in this episode, we take a look at three alternative sparkling wines, Cremant de Bourgogne, (French) a Cava (Spanish) and a Prosecco (Italian)
The great advantage of the Cremant is that coming from France many people will probably assume it is a form of champagne.
Cava is now seen as an excellent wine in its own right and not “just a poor man’s champagne”.
Prosecco on the other hand is normally slightly sweeter than both Cremant and Cava.
So which one to choose?
If you are unsure what your valentine likes, we suggest the Prosecco.
Prosecco is a delightful drink and even people that enjoy Champagne still enjoy Prosecco.
In this episode, the particular wines we taste are: –
Louis Boullot’s Cremant de Bourgogne Grand Reserve
MSVA Cava
Aldo Prosecco
If you would like more detailed reviews we have separate reviews on each of these wins about to be published shortly.
